This Privacy Policy describes how Vela ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Vela mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
When you create an account we collect your email address and (optionally) your name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple issues us, plus whatever email/name you choose to share.
Selfies you capture for skin analysis are sent to our AI analysis service (provided by Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or OpenAI depending on availability). Analysis results (e.g. skin type, colour season, scored attributes) are stored in your account so you can track changes over time. You can delete your photos and analyses at any time from the app.
Photos of clothing items you add to your wardrobe are processed by the same AI services to classify category, colour, and style. Processed items are stored in your account; the original photo is retained only if you choose to.
We collect anonymous product-interaction analytics (via PostHog) such as which features you use, which screens you view, and how often. This data is tied to a pseudonymous user ID and is used to improve the App. We do not use this data for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites.
We use Sentry to capture crash reports and performance metrics. This data is not linked to your personal identity and is used only to diagnose and fix problems.
We infer your country (US or CA) from your device locale so we can show weather-appropriate outfit suggestions and region-correct product availability. We do not collect your precise GPS location.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, scans, wardrobe items, and chat history within 30 days. Anonymous analytics and crash reports may be retained longer in aggregated form.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the CCPA (California), GDPR (EU), or PIPEDA (Canada), including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to opt out of certain data uses. Contact us at privacy@velastyle.app to exercise these rights.
Vela is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES at rest) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep your device updated.
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
